PDP's Shehu Usman Bawa Challenges APC's Opposition Claims

Shehu Usman Bawa, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, has publicly challenged Governor Uba Sani and the All Progressives Congress (APC) over their assertion that the ruling party faces no significant opposition ahead of the 2027 governorship election. Speaking at his campaign office in Kaduna, Bawa questioned the APC's concerns about opposition if they believe none exists, stating, “If there’s no opposition, why are they worried?” He emphasized that the PDP is actively engaging stakeholders and communities as part of its election preparations.

Bawa noted that the departure of some elected politicians from the PDP after the 2023 elections has not weakened the party's grassroots structure, asserting that its supporters remain loyal. He expressed confidence that the PDP would build its 2027 campaign on its existing structure while expanding its support base.

Bawa also indicated that the party would prioritize direct voter engagement over traditional campaign methods such as rallies and billboards.
