Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Advocates for State Police Reform

During a meeting of the Northern State Governor Forum (NSGF) in Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani reiterated his support for the establishment of state police, highlighting the urgent need for reforms to tackle Nigeria's growing security challenges. He noted that the country's vast territory and increasing sophistication of criminal networks necessitate a policing system that responds to local needs.

Sani commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for backing the state police initiative and praised the National Assembly for advancing the state police bill through the constitutional amendment process, describing it as a landmark reform that would significantly improve national security. He acknowledged the ongoing investments by the federal government in various sectors, including transport, agriculture, healthcare, and energy, which are foundational for sustainable growth and stability.

Sani urged northern governors and traditional rulers to remain united in addressing insecurity and boosting economic opportunities, while also stressing the importance of prioritizing solutions that improve citizens' lives above political interests.
