Harry Kane Wins 2026 Player of the Year in Germany

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane was voted the 2026 player of the year in Germany by an association of sports journalists on Sunday, finishing ahead of teammate Michael Olise. Kane, the England captain, won the award after a stellar season, during which he helped Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga and the German Cup, while the team also reached the Champions League semifinals.

He scored 61 goals for the club across all competitions last season and added six goals as England reached the World Cup semifinals before losing to Argentina. Bayern Munich's boss, Vincent Kompany, was named coach of the year, while Giulia Gwinn, the captain of Bayern's women's team, won the award for best female player.

The award is voted on by 695 members of the German sports journalists association, with Bundesliga players or German footballers playing abroad eligible. Kane, 33, is the first Englishman to win this award, and he is also among the favorites for the Ballon d’Or, which will be awarded in London in October.
