Kano Rep Accuses Kwankwaso of Betraying Atiku, Resigns to NNPP

In a political development, Kano representative Abba Kabir Yusuf announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) on January 23, 2026. He addressed his loyalists at his residence in Kano, alleging that former governor Kwankwaso betrayed Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 elections.

Kwankwaso's exit from NNPP in November 2024 was described as a betrayal. The move was linked to an incident in February 2019 when Kwankwaso allegedly abandoned an agreement with APC, leading to Atiku's defeat in the party's primary elections in Port Harcourt.
