Kano State to Enroll 1 Million in Health Insurance Scheme

Kano State, through the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), will enroll 1 million vulnerable residents in a health insurance scheme. This initiative is part of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund aimed at expanding access to essential healthcare services and strengthening financial risk protection for underserved populations across Kano State.

Dr. Rahila Muktar, the Secretary of KSCHMA, described this initiative as a significant step towards achieving universal health coverage in the state.

The enrollment of 1 million vulnerable residents marks a transformative milestone in this commitment, ensuring transparency and data integrity throughout the process. Adamu Abdullahi, the NHIA State Coordinator, stated that they are ready to provide regulatory guidance and technical support to ensure compliance with national standards.

The agency plans to finalize beneficiary validation using the national social register and deploy a harmonized digital enrollment tool alongside a joint monitoring framework and statewide sensitization campaigns to boost participation.
