Kano Task Force to Rehabilitate 10,000 Drug Abusers

The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is initiating a program to rehabilitate over 10,000 drug abusers from the streets of Kano. Chairman Muhuyi Rimin Gado announced this plan during a briefing at the Task Force headquarters, emphasizing the goal of reintegrating these individuals into society as responsible citizens.

Governor Abba Yusuf has provided an additional facility in Tofa Local Government Area to expand the existing Kiru Reformatory Institute, addressing the urgent need for rehabilitation services due to rising public demand. The Task Force has already referred about 125 individuals for rehabilitation at Kiru.

Gado also mentioned a significant operation involving the illegal administration of Pentazocine to a 63-year-old woman by former Rogo Local Government Chairman Yahuza Musa, who is currently facing legal charges. The Task Force is collaborating with various security agencies to enhance rehabilitation efforts and create employment opportunities for rehabilitated youths.
