Kano State Leads 2026 NECO Exams with Record Performance

Kano state has emerged as the leading state in the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO), with 74,413 candidates obtaining at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics. This marks the second consecutive year that Kano has topped the NECO performance chart, following a similar achievement in 2025.

In a statement from Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the director-general of Media and Publicity, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf commended the students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders for their outstanding performance. He noted that this back-to-back success reflects the state's sustained investment in education.

The Kano state government allocated over N4.4 billion in 2026 to sponsor candidates for the SSCE, particularly aiding indigent students. Governor Yusuf assured that his administration would continue to prioritize education through increased funding, improved learning facilities, teacher recruitment and training, scholarships, and support for underprivileged students.
