Nnamdi Kanu Appeals Conviction and Life Sentence for Terrorism Charges

Nnamdi Kanu has filed an appeal against his conviction and life sentence for terrorism charges in Abuja. Aloy Ejimakor, representing Kanu, is requesting the court to overturn the conviction and order his release.

Kanu was convicted under the Terrorism Prevention Act and sentenced to life imprisonment for acts preparatory to terrorism. The appeal challenges the lack of relevant mitigating factors considered during sentencing.

Kanu, known for advocating secession in southeastern Nigeria, received the sentence on November 20, 2025, for seven counts of terrorism-related charges.
