Nnamdi Kanu Appeals Life Sentence, Citing Trial Flaws and Bail Ignored

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has appealed his life sentence for terrorism-related charges. Kanu filed a 22-ground appeal challenging the November 20, 2025, judgment of the Federal High Court.

He argues that his trial judge, Justice James Omotosho, erred in law proceedings, leading to a miscarriage of justice. Kanu contends that the court failed to resolve the legal consequences of the disruptions during his earlier trial following the military operation known as "Operation Python Dance II" in September 2017.

Kanu further criticizes the court for proceeding with the judgment without hearing pending preliminary objections, undermining a fair trial. He describes the life sentence as excessive and unlawful, urging the court to quash his conviction and set aside the sentence imposed by the Federal High Court.
