KAROTA Charges TikToker Rabi’u Sani Zage with Defamation

Rabi’u Sani Zage, a suspected TikToker, was arraigned by the Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) before Magistrate Court No. 7, Noman’s Land, on eight counts of defamation of character and related offences. The allegations stem from videos he circulated on social media, which purportedly ridiculed KAROTA officials performing their duties.
Abubakar Ibrahim Sharada, KAROTA’s Public Relations Officer, stated that Zage had a history of recording and sharing videos with derogatory comments about the agency's personnel. Despite previously signing an undertaking at the Farm Centre Police Division to cease such activities, he allegedly continued.
Zage pleaded guilty to all charges, leading the court to remand him in a correctional facility until further proceedings on November 2, 2026. His counsel requested bail, but the court postponed the ruling on the application until the same date.
