KASUPDA and TCN Tackle Power Line Encroachments

The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) are intensifying efforts to combat encroachments on power transmission lines. This initiative follows a visit from TCN's Kaduna General Manager, Nasir Fada, to KASUPDA's headquarters, where he met with the Director General, Abdurrahman Yahya.

They expressed serious concerns regarding the development of structures near high-tension power lines, which pose significant risks to public safety. Yahya directed an immediate inventory of structures located within the affected corridor and highlighted that violations of planning regulations could endanger lives.

Both organizations plan to collaborate with relevant agencies to address the situation and protect critical transmission assets. Additionally, Yahya urged TCN to enhance public awareness, particularly through social media, regarding the minimum safety distance required from power lines.

The visit aimed to strengthen institutional cooperation to tackle planning violations affecting power infrastructure.
