Katsina State Launches Review of Light Rail Master Plan

The Katsina State Government has inaugurated a technical committee to review a proposed light rail master plan, as part of efforts to modernize transport and improve infrastructure across the state. Abdullahi Garba Faskari, the Secretary to the State Government, inaugurated the committee, describing the initiative as a significant step towards building an efficient and sustainable urban transport system.

The proposed rail project aims to enhance mobility, support economic growth, and promote urban development in line with the state’s long-term development agenda. The committee, chaired by Sani Magaji, includes representatives from various ministries and agencies, such as the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ministry of Urban and Regional Planning, State Transport Authority, Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, and Ministry of Environment.

The committee's mandate is to assess the technical and financial viability of the project and determine its compatibility with the Katsina State Development Master Plan for 2025-2040. Faskari urged the committee to carry out its assignment diligently, reflecting the commitment of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda to develop modern connections for a vibrant Katsina State.
