Insecurity Forces Closure of Markets and Schools in Katsina, Governor Radda Takes Action

In Katsina, Nigeria, Governor Radda announced the closure of markets and schools in eight LGAs due to escalating insecurity. The affected LGAs include Jibia, Batsari, Danmusa, Kankara, Safana, Sabuwa, Faskari, and Dandume.

Governor Radda highlighted persistent bandit attacks and communal clashes as reasons for the closures, leading to mass displacements and abandonment of farmlands. He also pointed out that natural resource challenges like drought and desertification exacerbate the situation, fueling conflicts in rural communities.
