Katsina State Orders Closure of Public Schools Over Security Threats

The Katsina State government has ordered the immediate closure of all public schools across the state in response to rising security threats, particularly from bandit attacks. The decision, announced by the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, aims to prioritize the safety of students and teachers.

The closure comes in the wake of recent student abductions in neighboring states like Kebbi and Niger, causing heightened anxiety among parents and education stakeholders in the North-West region. The government assures citizens that normal academic activities will resume once adequate security measures are in place after the security review in high-risk areas like Jibia.
