Katsina Records Decline in Polio Cases, Launches Vaccination Campaign

Katsina State in Nigeria reported two cases of the circulating variant of the poliovirus in 2025, marking a significant decline from the 17 cases reported across eight local government areas in 2024. The announcement was made ahead of the October 2025 integrated Polio Vaccination Campaign by the UNICEF Chief Kano Field Officer, Rahama Rihood Muhammed.

The state is set to launch a vaccination exercise from October 4 to 13, aiming to immunize millions of children against polio and other diseases. The campaign includes deploying vaccination teams to various locations, emphasizing the importance of routine immunization and addressing vaccine hesitancy in real-time.
