Kano and UNICEF Target 7.8m Children in Measles-Rubella and Polio Vaccination

Kano State, in collaboration with UNICEF, is targeting 7.8 million children in a measles-rubella and polio vaccination campaign. The Integrated Polio Vaccination Campaign, set to begin in October 2025, aims to vaccinate children aged 9 months to 14 years.

This campaign is described as historic and the largest in Africa, with Nigeria targeting 106 million children. The Director General of the Kano State Primary Healthcare Management Board highlighted the significance of this campaign in delivering health services efficiently.

The deployment of vaccination teams and provision of vaccines have been completed to ensure maximum coverage and reduce the burden of multiple campaigns.
