Katsina State Launches School Improvement Grants Initiative

On Friday, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda inaugurated the School Improvement Grants initiative, aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions in public schools. The program will utilize funds for constructing additional classrooms, renovating dilapidated school structures, and providing gender-sensitive sanitation facilities and clean water.

Radda explained that the program is designed to ensure public schools in the state meet the standards set by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). The initiative includes training 28,000 teachers in modern teaching methodologies and classroom management techniques.

The state government will distribute digital tablets and textbooks for core subjects and install CCTV cameras in 130 schools to enhance security and monitoring. Radda commended the Federal Ministry of Education, UBEC, and the World Bank for their support.

Yusuf Suleiman Jibiya, the Commissioner for Education in Katsina State, emphasized the government's commitment to prioritizing the education sector to ensure effective teaching and learning across the state.
