Kebbi Governor Sarki Criticizes Malami's Emergency Claims

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris Yahaya Sarki issued a statement on Sunday, criticizing former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami for his recent declaration of a state of emergency on misgovernance in Kebbi. Sarki accused Malami of distorting facts regarding the state’s conditions, particularly concerning insecurity, poverty, and education.

This reaction followed Malami's comments as he entered the 2027 governorship race, where he alleged that Kebbi faced worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and declining education. Sarki defended his administration, arguing that Malami, during his tenure as Attorney General, bore responsibility for the economic problems currently affecting the country.

He described Malami's statements as a "litany of falsehoods" and emphasized that the current administration was undertaking various reforms across education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure. Sarki highlighted ongoing rehabilitation work on general hospitals and primary healthcare centers, asserting that the challenges inherited from Malami's administration were being addressed.
