Ruto Credits Dangote for Alleviating Nigeria's Fuel Crisis

During an infrastructure summit in Nairobi, Kenyan President William Ruto credited Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote for his role in addressing fuel scarcity in Nigeria. Ruto highlighted that despite Nigeria's oil wealth, the country has faced persistent fuel shortages, leading to long queues at petrol stations.

He argued that Africa has the human and financial capital to solve its own problems without relying on Europe or Asia. Ruto urged regional leaders and industrialists to take immediate action to address energy challenges.

He noted that Dangote's refinery is a significant step forward, pledging support for the proposed East African refinery model. Ruto also mentioned the Nigerian National Petroleum Company's commitment to rehabilitating the country's four public refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna, although past efforts have yielded little success.

Despite these initiatives, fuel supply pressures and high pump prices remain issues in Nigeria.
