BuuPass Partners with SafariBucks for Travel Payments

BuuPass, a Kenyan travel-booking startup, has partnered with Nairobi-based digital wallet SafariBucks to introduce cross-border payment options on its platform. This collaboration enables travelers to use SafariBucks for payments related to BuuPass buses, flights, and transfers, with transactions processed through local payment systems.
Additionally, SafariBucks’ Spend Management product will integrate with Gavanpass, BuuPass’ corporate travel platform, facilitating tax reporting and funding for employee travel across various currencies. Launched in April 2026, Gavanpass allows for booking flights, hotels, and ground transfers, featuring approval workflows and real-time spending tracking.
Sonia Kabra, co-founder and co-CEO of BuuPass, stated that the partnership addresses the challenges of payment processing in African travel. BuuPass, established in 2016, operates in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Africa, collaborating with over 150 transport operators.
The partnership follows an undisclosed investment secured by BuuPass a year prior.
