KGIRS Targets N66.4bn Revenue for 2027 in Kogi State

The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has established a target of N66.4 billion for Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the year 2027, marking a 51.3% increase from the current baseline of N43.9 billion. This announcement was made during a strategic meeting at KGIRS headquarters in Lokoja, aimed at engaging revenue-generating Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Dr Rahman Nasir Ichanyi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on IGR, emphasized the need for automation and transparency in revenue collection processes. He encouraged MDAs to explore innovative revenue opportunities.

Dr Sule Salihu Enehe, the Executive Chairman of KGIRS, represented by Mr Emmanuel Yusufu, the Director of Income Tax, urged MDAs to enhance their understanding of revenue generation and improve documentation of revenue estimates. Since Enehe's appointment in 2021, monthly IGR has increased from approximately N750 million to between N3.5 billion and N4 billion, attributed to reforms in tax administration and the introduction of a Central Billing System.
