Atiku Abubakar Calls for Security Emergency in Nigeria

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has urged the Nigerian government to declare a state of emergency on security in response to escalating kidnappings and terrorist attacks. His call follows a recent attack at a secondary school in Iluk Bunu, Kogi State, where three individuals, including the vice principal, were killed and several students were abducted.

Abubakar expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, emphasizing that the attacks are crippling the education sector and threatening the lives of students and teachers. He noted that over 90 school children were abducted in a separate incident in Oyo State on May 15.

Abubakar advocated for extraordinary measures, including the establishment of a national guard and improved human intelligence to combat terrorism. He stressed that the federal government must take decisive action to protect educational institutions and ensure a safe environment for learning.
