In an Instagram video posted on 21 September 2026, she recounted her childhood struggles after moving to Nigeria with her mother, where they lived in various properties owned by King Sunny Ade, including locations in Bariga and Victoria Garden City.

Damilola alleged that despite her father's financial success from performances, neither she nor her half-siblings received adequate support for basic needs such as food, school fees, or sanitary products. She claimed that they were often taken to her father's shows and left without food or money.

Damilola also mentioned a tragic incident where a half-sister died in America due to King Sunny Ade's failure to pay hospital bills on time. She expressed her desire for accountability rather than financial assistance, stating that her video is just the beginning of her revelations about her father's parental neglect.
