Klopp Named New Head Coach of German National Team

Jürgen Klopp, aged 59, has been appointed as the head coach of the German national football team, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann, who was dismissed after Germany's unexpected exit from the World Cup at the round of 32 stage against Paraguay. Klopp will officially start his new role on August 15, following his release from Red Bull, where he held the position of Head of Global Role.

The German Football Association (DFB) facilitated Klopp's release by agreeing to pay one million Euros to the “Wings for Life” foundation and committing to play three matches in Leipzig by the end of 2030. This appointment marks Klopp's first national team role in his managerial career.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf expressed that Klopp's release signifies Red Bull's investment in strengthening the German national team. Red Bull's CEO Oliver Mintzlaff acknowledged his dissatisfaction with Klopp's departure but emphasized the necessity for a stronger German team.

Klopp's inaugural match as Germany's coach will be against the Netherlands in the Nations League in September.
