Kogi State Rescues Victims Abducted from Orphanage

Kogi State officials confirmed the successful rescue of victims abducted from Daarul Kitab Islam Orphanage in Lokoja. The incident occurred on April 26, when gunmen attacked the orphanage and abducted 23 individuals, including the proprietor's wife.

Following intensified security operations, 15 victims were rescued by April 27. The operation, conducted by the Nigerian Army's 12 Brigade in collaboration with security agencies, took place in the Agbaja forest area of Lokoja Local Government.

The rescue mission resulted in the safe recovery of five boys, two girls, and two adult females, who were evacuated for medical care. Kogi State Governor Ahm Ododo praised the bravery of the Nigerian Army personnel and security agencies involved.

He emphasized the administration's commitment to ensuring safety and security in the state and urged residents to remain vigilant. Governor Ododo also acknowledged the support from President Bola Tinubu in sustaining security efforts in Kogi.
