Gunmen Abduct Passengers in Kogi State; Police Respond

On April 13, 2026, at approximately 20:30 hours, gunmen abducted passengers in Kogi State, specifically in Lokoja. The attackers flagged down a bus belonging to Chisco Transport Company, which was en route from Lagos to Abuja.

The Kogi State Police Command, led by Commissioner Naziru Bello Kankarofi, issued a statement regarding the incident but did not disclose the total number of victims involved. However, one victim, Adoun Julius, aged 56, was successfully rescued, and the vehicle was recovered and taken to the police station for further action.

The police have intensified security measures to ensure the release of the remaining abducted passengers, conducting joint operations with military and other security agencies. So far, seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, and the police have urged the public to remain calm and provide credible information to assist ongoing operations.
