Kogi Education Commissioner Reiterates Ban on Ceremonies

On September 18, Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, reaffirmed the ongoing ban on sign-out ceremonies in tertiary institutions across Kogi State, urging institutional heads to comply with the directive. During his visit to Kogi State Polytechnic in Lokoja, Jones described the policy as vital for promoting discipline and ensuring students concentrate on their studies.

He praised the Polytechnic's management, led by Rector Prof. Salihu Sanusi Avidime, for their significant achievements in just seven months. Jones highlighted the need for effective administration through teamwork and called for enhanced oversight to maintain the institution's integrity.

Rector Avidime expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his support and outlined recent accomplishments, including the provision of motorized boreholes and the renovation of the library. He acknowledged ongoing challenges and requested continued government assistance.

The Polytechnic's Registrar, Dr. Yahaya Segun Alilu, also thanked the governor for his support and pledged cooperation with the state government.
