UNIZIK Bans Graduating Students' Signing-Off Ceremonies

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has implemented an immediate ban on all forms of 'signing-off' celebrations or activities by graduating students. This decision, communicated in a statement signed by Comrade Aloysius Emeka Attah, the Director of Information and Public Relations, is a response to recurring incidents of chaos, violence, vandalism, and disruptions associated with such events.

The university expressed concerns over unauthorized individuals infiltrating the campus during these celebrations, posing a threat to the safety and security of students, staff, and property. The statement outlined that any non-student or non-staff found on campus during these activities would face arrest and prosecution.

Furthermore, students involved in organizing or participating in these events could face severe disciplinary actions, including rustication. Dr.

Chinenye Gloria Okeke, the University Registrar, urged students to concentrate on their academic duties and encouraged reporting of any misconduct. The Vice Chancellor, Prof.
