Kogi State Opens Bids for New Water Projects

On Wednesday, the Kogi State Ministry of Water Resources opened bids to select consultants for new water projects across the state. The bid opening ceremony, held in Lokoja, was attended by officials from relevant government agencies and civil society groups.

Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, the commissioner for water resources, highlighted that the process aligns with the administration's transparency and accountability policies.

He expressed confidence that the bidding process would yield qualified consultants through a merit-based approach. Mr.

Ehimoni Sundai Joshua Esq, representing the Bureau of Public Procurement, described the exercise as a clear demonstration of the state's commitment to transparency and fairness. Alhassan Omakoji, the chairman of the tender board, assured stakeholders of a competitive bidding process.

Civil society representatives, including Comrade Amza Aliyu, commended the government's seriousness regarding the bid opening, emphasizing the importance of due process in managing public resources. The event adopted a virtual e-procurement method to ensure strict adherence to terms of reference.
