Kogi Revenue Service Denies Financial Misconduct Allegations

The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has dismissed allegations of financial and administrative irregularities as false and misleading. Dr.

Salihu Sule Eneh, the Executive Chairman, and Mr. Emmanuel Yusufu, the State Director in charge of income tax, addressed journalists to clarify the agency's operations.

They emphasized that the agency follows clearly defined rules and procedures, and that the Executive Chairman is not directly involved in investigations of staff misconduct. The agency has a constitutional mandate to assign a director of legal services to review cases of misconduct and make recommendations.

KGIRS maintains a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline and routinely redeploys staff as part of administrative measures. Yusufu clarified that revenue collected is paid into government-approved accounts and that the Executive Chairman is not a signatory to state accounts.

The agency also condemned what it described as a campaign of cyber defamation and warned that those spreading unverifiable allegations would be held accountable under the law.
