KGIRS Launches Tax Sensitisation Drive in Kogi State

The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has launched a state-wide taxpayer sensitisation initiative aimed at improving revenue generation through enhanced public understanding of recently introduced tax laws. This initiative commenced with a town-hall meeting in Okene, Kogi Central Senatorial District, where stakeholders engaged directly with tax authorities.

Dr. Sule Salihu Enehe, the Executive Chairman of KGIRS, represented by Barrister Abubakar-Aliyu Bala, emphasized the importance of taxation as a fundamental aspect of governance.

He highlighted the benefits of the new tax laws, which focus on eliminating multiple taxation, aiding small business owners, and ensuring fair tax administration for low-income earners. Dr.

Rahman Nasir Ichanyi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internally Generated Revenue, discussed the reforms aimed at streamlining revenue collection and establishing clear tax administration frameworks. Hajia Hassanat Enehezei Salawu, the Director of MDAs at KGIRS, provided a detailed explanation of the new tax laws and engaged with participants during an interactive session.

The meeting attracted diverse representatives from various ethnic groups.
