Yahaya Bello Wins APC Senatorial Ticket in Kogi

Yahaya Bello has won the APC senatorial ticket for Kogi, achieving a total of 72,349 votes in the primary election. His closest opponent, Ibrahim Yakubu Adok, received only 315 votes, while Momoh Yusuf Obaro garnered 188 votes.

The results were declared across five local government areas, with Bello's votes distributed as follows: Adavi (18,341), Ajaokuta (10,298), Ogori (5,146), Okehi (8,943), and Oken (29,621). In the Kogi West senatorial district, incumbent Senator Sundai Karimi was reported to be leading as results continued to trickle in, following the withdrawal of frontline aspirants including Senators Smart Adeyemi and Samuel Bamidel Aro.

In Kogi East, incumbent Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho was trailing based on preliminary results, having lost in the Dekina local government area with only two votes against Dr. Joe Erico Ameh, who scored 19,805 votes. Dr. Joe Erico described the party's source of preferred candidates as influenced by significant stakeholders within the state.
