Pastor W.F. Kumuyi Celebrates 85th Birthday Milestone

Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, recently celebrated his 85th birthday.

Born into a devout Anglican family in Erin Ijesha, Osun State, Kumuyi experienced a personal conversion to Christianity during his secondary school years. He completed his secondary education at Mayflower School in Ikenne, Ogun State, in 1961 and graduated with a first-class honors degree in Mathematics from the University of Ibadan in 1967.

After serving as a mathematics lecturer at the University of Lagos in 1973, he initiated a Bible study group with 15 students seeking a deeper understanding of scripture, which laid the foundation for the Deeper Christian Life Ministry established in 1975. Following disagreements with the Apostolic Faith Church regarding teachings on baptism and the Holy Spirit, Kumuyi continued his independent ministry, leading to the establishment of the Deeper Life Bible Church in 1982, which has grown to hundreds of thousands of members across various countries, with its international headquarters located in Gbagada, Lagos.

The church's main auditorium was inaugurated on April 24, 2018, with a seating capacity of 30,000.
