Kwankwaso Open to Reconciliation with Kano Governor Yusuf

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), stated he is open to reconciling with Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano. This statement follows a breakdown in their relationship after Yusuf defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso, who previously served as governor of Kano, discussed their falling-out in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service. He noted that Yusuf won the Kano governorship seat in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and was once a loyal member of Kwankwaso's political group.

Despite their differences, Kwankwaso expressed no ill will towards Yusuf, emphasizing his capacity to forgive and his belief that differences in age and thinking are natural. He also rejected the notion that he has become a passive political figure, asserting his continued active involvement in politics.
