Kwankwaso Resigns from NNPP, Joins ADC Ahead of 2027

Rabiu Kwankwaso has officially resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), as announced in a statement released on Sunday. The decision follows recent changes in Nigeria's political landscape, which Kwankwaso believes necessitate a different path.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the party's national leader and representative during the 2023 presidential elections, acknowledging that leaving the party was a difficult choice. Despite the current political situation, he felt it was essential to align with a platform that could better contribute to national change.

In conjunction with his resignation, the Kwankwasiyya movement is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of a political realignment strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections. The movement's spokesperson, Habibu Sale, issued a terse statement regarding this development on Saturday.
