Kwara State Digitizes 19,591 Land Records in One Year

The Kwara State Government has successfully digitized a total of 19,591 land records since initiating land reforms on October 20, 2025. ESV.

Sulyman Babatunde Abdulkareem, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), announced this at the Ease of Doing Business Council (EoDB) investment summit in Ilorin. The digitization aims to improve accessibility and management of land records, following the establishment of KWGIS under the 2020 GIS law.

Abdulkareem noted that the reforms have minimized administrative bottlenecks, reducing the average processing time for Certificates of Occupancy (CofO) from approximately 180 days to just 35 days. Prior to the reforms, about 14,840 applications were processed, while 2,538 applications have been processed post-reform.

Dr. Hauwa Nuhu, the chairman of the EoDB council, emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for private investment to foster job creation and sustainable prosperity in Kwara.
