Kwara Governor Launches 2026 Amputee Football Boot Camp for Talent Development

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has officially opened a 2026 amputee football boot camp in Ilorin, emphasizing the state's commitment to inclusive sports development. The camp, organized by the Kwara State Sport Commission, is part of efforts to empower persons with disabilities and nurture grassroots talent in sports.

The governor highlighted the importance of modern facilities and equipment to enhance athletes' performance on national and international platforms. Various stakeholders, including coaches, the private sector, and the media, are collaborating to ensure the sustained growth of amputee football in Kwara State.

The boot camp is designed to identify and develop young amputee footballers for future competitions. Notable figures involved include coach Akored Monsuru, ambassador Yahaya Olatunji, and head coach Gbenga Dosumu.

The Nigerian Amputee Football Federation has commended the Kwara State Sport Commission for its support in structuring the camp to develop junior and youth amputee football players.
