Olawepo-Hashim Calls for UN Probe Into Kwara Killings, Criticizes Security Failures

Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a presidential aspirant from the People's Democratic Party, has urged the United Nations to investigate the recent killings in Woro community, Kwara State.

He criticized the Nigerian government for its failure to protect rural communities, particularly in responding promptly to distress calls during attacks. Olawepo-Hashim highlighted the reported death of nearly 200 residents due to heavily armed gunmen in Woro.

He questioned the lack of aerial intervention despite Nigeria's air power capabilities and previous successful military interventions in other countries. Olawepo-Hashim emphasized the need for transparency regarding the withdrawal of troops prior to the massacre and warned against normalizing such violence.

The Nigerian Air Force and security agencies were urged to provide a detailed account of their operations during the attack. The incident occurred on February 3, 2026, in Kaiama Local Government Area, resulting in a significant loss of lives.
