Kwara's Security Lacks Armored Vehicles, Ex-Police Spokesperson

Ajayi Okasanmi, the former police public relations officer for Kwara State, expressed serious concerns regarding the state's inadequate facilities to combat insecurity. Speaking in Ilorin on Monday during the 63rd birthday celebration of Dr.

Alabi Tajudeen, he revealed that Kwara does not possess a single armored personnel carrier, which he believes weakens the state's capacity to respond to security threats. Okasanmi criticized the role of community participation in policing, stating that security responsibilities extend beyond law enforcement agencies.

He advocated for an intelligence-led policing system that relies on effective data gathering and community collaboration. Furthermore, he linked the challenges faced by the Nigerian police to insufficient government support, poor welfare, and lack of modern equipment.

Okasanmi urged the government to prioritize investments in security infrastructure and training. He also called for citizens to build trust with security agencies to enhance information sharing, stressing that many criminals operate within communities shielded by silence.
