Kwara Pilgrims Complete Umrah Before Hajj in Mecca

Kwara State pilgrims successfully completed their Umrah pilgrimage on Tuesday night, marking the first leg of their Hajj rites. Significant sites visited included Jabal e Saur, where Prophet Muhammad and his companion Abu Bakr sought refuge during their migration to Medina, and Jabal Nur, the site of the first revelation.

The pilgrims also visited Masjid Nabawi, the graveyard of the Prophet, and Masjid Quba, the first mosque built in Islam. A total of 1,714 pilgrims from Kwara arrived in Mecca last Tuesday, with accommodations arranged for their stay ahead of the 2026 Hajj rites.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq provided a special welfare package that included quality meals for the pilgrims. Sheikh Hassan Tay Agbaji, an Islamic scholar, assisted the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board in providing insights into the historical significance of the sites visited, emphasizing the spiritual rewards associated with prayers at these locations.
