Kwara State Begins Vaccination for 2026 Hajj Pilgrims

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board has commenced the vaccination of 1,714 intended pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj, marking a significant step in preparations for a safe pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. This initiative was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the board's assistant press secretary, Abdulmumeen Sidiq.

The vaccinations, conducted by the Port Health Services under the leadership of Mr. Owolabi, include mandatory immunizations against oral polio, meningitis, and yellow fever, which are essential for travel to Saudi Arabia.

Alhaji Abdulkadri Abdulsalam, the executive secretary of the board, emphasized the importance of this vaccination program for the overall success of the Hajj operations. He urged all intended pilgrims across the 16 local government areas to comply with health officials and get vaccinated promptly, as failure to do so could affect their eligibility to travel.

Additionally, the board has started distributing uniform materials and travel bags to facilitate orderly arrangements for the pilgrims during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
