Barcelona Signs Karim Adeyemi for $33 Million from Dortmund

On Thursday, Barcelona announced the signing of forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of 29 million euros ($33 million), which includes potential add-ons. Adeyemi, a versatile 24-year-old, has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2031.

This transfer marks Barcelona's second signing of the summer, following their acquisition of England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle. Adeyemi's arrival is particularly significant as it strengthens Barcelona's attacking options after the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski and the end of Marcus Rashford's loan from Manchester United.

The Spanish champions are also pursuing Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez as their primary target this summer. Hansi Flick, the coach of the German national team, gave Adeyemi his debut in 2021.

Prior to joining Barcelona, Adeyemi scored 36 goals in 146 appearances for Dortmund after transferring from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022.
