Rasidi Ladoja Crowned 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland in Historic Ceremony

Former Oyo State Governor and Senator, Rasidi Ladoja, was crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on September 26, 2025, in a historic event in Ibadan. The Olubadan title symbolizes cultural unity and tradition in Ibadan, with a unique rotational succession system.

Ladoja's ascension to the throne marks the culmination of a traditional journey spanning three decades. The ceremony was attended by prominent Nigerians, including President Bola Tinubu.

The Olubadan position holds significant leadership importance in Ibadan's heritage. Following the rotational order tradition, Ladoja, as a senior chief in the Otun line, was expected to succeed the late Olubadan, Oba Owol.
