Tipper Truck Accident in Lagos Claims One Life

On Wednesday, a tragic accident at Ilasa bus stop in Lagos resulted in the death of a male passenger on a motorcycle after a sand-laden tipper truck crashed into it around 3:18 PM. The tipper truck, with registration number 19F 992FG, reportedly lost control and collided with the motorcycle from behind due to reckless driving.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded promptly, with its Eagle Response Team arriving at the scene approximately 15 minutes after the distress call. Emergency responders, including LASEMA personnel, Lagos Response Unit (LRU) paramedics, officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and officers from the Nigeria Police Force, managed the incident.

The deceased's remains were respectfully recovered and handed over to family members. To alleviate traffic congestion, both the tipper truck and motorcycle were removed from the road and taken to Ilasamaja Police Station for further investigation.

Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, expressed condolences to the deceased's family and urged motorists, especially drivers of articulated vehicles, to adhere to traffic regulations.
