Lagos Commissioner Lauds QLife as Family Medicine Model

During the re-launch of QLife Family Clinic's new headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos Commissioner for Health Akin Abayomi commended the clinic as a model for family medicine. He stated that Lagos State requires 30,000 family physicians to meet global healthcare standards, noting the current count is only 5,000.

Abayomi described family medicine as the cornerstone of an efficient healthcare system and warned against bypassing primary healthcare providers in search of specialists, which can lead to higher costs. He pointed out that Nigeria ranks 163rd out of 191 countries in global health performance, with 70% of healthcare spending paid directly by patients.

The event marked the 25th anniversary of QLife, with Dr. Toyin Alakija, the clinic's director, expressing her fulfillment in realizing a lifelong dream.

She emphasized the clinic's commitment to patient-centered care, stating that quality healthcare is a right for every individual.
