Lagos to Host Commonwealth Summit in June 2026

The Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, will host the Commonwealth Summit on June 8-9, 2026, at Eko Hotel, expecting 1,000 delegates from Commonwealth nations. The summit, organized in partnership with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, aims to position Lagos as a premier investment destination in Africa.

Key discussions will focus on sectors including infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, technology, and tourism. Ambros Medebem, the state commissioner for commerce, noted that the summit will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and business networking sessions.

Additionally, 400 foreign delegates are expected to participate in guided tours of major infrastructure projects, including the Lekki Free Trade Zone and Dangote facilities. The summit aims to produce a concrete investment framework and action plan to accelerate job creation and sustainable economic growth, with a focus on enhancing the business environment and leveraging technological innovations.
