Alagbado Residents Endure Months of Power Outage

The Alagbado community in Lagos has been suffering from a prolonged blackout lasting several months, affecting approximately 300 households. The issue stems from a faulty transformer that has not been repaired since it was removed without prior notice on December 28, 2025.

Afeez Lawal, a community representative, expressed frustration over the lack of action from Ikeja Electric, despite multiple complaints and appeals for urgent intervention. Residents have been forced to ration electricity and walk long distances to fetch water, raising concerns about security as criminal activities have reportedly increased in the area.

The transformer has been malfunctioning for three years, and residents have been left in the dark, with many tenants vacating their homes due to deteriorating living conditions. Kingsley Okoti, a spokesperson for Ikeja Electric, was contacted for comment but did not respond by the time of the report.
