Ikeja Electric Requests Patience Amid Power Disruptions

Ikeja Electric has issued an appeal for patience to its customers in Lagos State as they continue to experience power disruptions. The company attributed these outages to a reduction in electricity allocation from the national grid, which has affected supply across its franchise areas.

In a statement released on Friday, May 1, Ikeja Electric apologized for the inconveniences caused to households and businesses, explaining that the situation is beyond their immediate control. To manage the limited supply, the company has introduced temporary load shedding across affected feeder locations.

This measure became necessary to maintain system stability and ensure fair distribution of available power among customers. The disruptions come amid recurring electricity shortages in Lagos, linked to constraints in gas supply affecting nationwide power generation capacity.

In response to these challenges, the Lagos State Government has signed power purchase agreements with three independent power producers to strengthen electricity supply and improve reliability.
