Lagos Couple Arrested for Staging Own Kidnapping and Demanding N10m Ransom

In Lagos, a couple identified as Fred Good was arrested for faking their own kidnapping and demanding a ransom of N10 million from their family and friends. The couple staged the abduction on January 7, claiming financial difficulties as the reason.

The husband planned to return to the United States but lacked funds, leading to the elaborate scheme. The police discovered the ransom money during a search operation at a school in the Mushin area of Lagos.

The wife was found carrying the ransom money in a bag, leading to their immediate arrest. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Addebisi, confirmed the incident and stated that the couple would be charged in court after investigations.

This case adds to the increasing number of self-staged kidnapping incidents in Nigeria, highlighting the need for law enforcement to address such criminal activities promptly.
