IFMA Nigeria Launches Initiatives for Facility Management

The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Nigeria Chapter unveiled a series of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the facility management profession and advancing industry research in Nigeria's evolving energy landscape. During a corporate membership event, themed "Evaluating the Impact of New Energy Regulations on Facility Management," IFMA Nigeria, led by Sheriff Daramola, outlined plans to establish a learning and innovation center to develop research and create a talent bank.

This initiative aims to bridge the skill gap in facility management through technical vocational education and training (TVET). Biodun Ogunley, Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, delivered a keynote address discussing the state's electricity sector reforms, which create new opportunities for facility management to become strategic partners in delivering sustainable and resilient infrastructure.

Ogunley highlighted the establishment of the Lagos State Electricity Law and the foundation laid for a competitive electricity market to encourage investment and reliable energy supply.
